Position Overview: A Panel Layout Technician's job involves physically assembling control panels according to detailed schematics and specifications. They are responsible for mounting components and ensuring panels meet safety and quality standards. This role also includes troubleshooting, maintaining documentation, and communicating with engineers and team members.
Core Responsibilities:
Layout and Mounting: Dimension and layout back panels and enclosures, mount components (relays, PLCs, I/O modules, etc.) according to drawings.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve wiring errors and component malfunctions.
Documentation: Maintain redline drawings, document changes, and communicate them to engineers or team leaders.
Quality Assurance: Ensure panels meet safety and quality standards, including UL508A.
Essential Skills:
Understanding of Schematics: Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and drawings.
Mechanical Knowledge: Basic understanding of mechanical theory and terminology.
Technical Skills: Proficient in using hand and power tools, and in wiring techniques.
Attention to Detail: Ability to work accurately and precisely, paying attention to detail in wiring and component placement.
Communication: Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with engineers, team members, and other stakeholders.
Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve component issues.
Problem-solving: Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
Additional Information:
This role involves working under the supervision of a team leader.
Experience with specific standards like UL508A is preferred.
