At Benshaw, Panel Layout Assembly workers are responsible for the precise layout and installation of electrical components—like breakers, relays, terminal blocks, and drives—onto the back panels of control cabinets. This role is critical to the functionality, safety, and serviceability of the finished motor control products.

Key Responsibilities of Panel Layout Assembly Workers:
Layout and Installation:
  • Read and interpret electrical layout drawings, schematics, and mechanical prints to determine correct placement of components.
  • Mark and drill holes in back panels for mounting hardware.
  • Install and secure components such as:
    • Contactors
    • Circuit breakers
    • Terminal blocks
    • PLCs
    • Relays
    • Drives and soft starters
Tools and Equipment Use:
  • Use drills, screwdrivers, torque tools, and layout templates for accurate component positioning.
  • Operate manual and powered tools to prep back panels and mount devices securely.
Quality and Standards:
  • Ensure spacing and alignment follow UL, NEC, or customer-specific standards.
  • Confirm that all components are mounted securely, with correct clearances and accessibility.
  • Flag discrepancies between drawings and actual fit for correction before wiring begins.
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with fabrication, wiring, and engineering teams to ensure alignment across all phases of the build.
  • Provide feedback on design improvements or recurring issues with fit and layout.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in mechanical or electrical assembly, particularly panel building.
  • Excellent attention to precision and layout detail.
  • Familiarity with UL standards and industrial electrical hardware.
  • High school diploma or GED; technical training a plus.
